Ten Pakistanis Who Made Pakistan Proud Globally in July 2016
Pakistan is home to talented people who are trying hard to promote the true potential of the country. Every month Pakistanis make a mark on the Globe and this July wasn’t different either. Media outlets in Pakistan sometimes overemphasize on the negative stories of the country while forgetting to promote the achievements of talented Pakistanis. Here is a list of some amazing Pakistanis who gave us a reason to be proud of being a Pakistani in the month of July, 2016.
1. Ali Sajid
One of the amazing Pakistanis who made us proud is a prodigy artist, Ali Sajid. He has won the prestigious Daniel Smith Award in Italy in Maxi painting competition. He competed with a large number of artists from various countries. The rule of the competition was to make a painting on the spot. Ali Sajid lives in Peshawar and has a Master’s in Fine Arts from Peshawar University. His forte is to bring historical architectures to life with his watercolor paintings. He aims to preserve the historical beauty of the valuable buildings in the country.
2. RahatFateh Ali Khan
RahatFateh Ali Khan is one of the best singers Pakistan has produced. He was on a musical tour in UK (United Kingdom) in the month of July. Oxford University invited the renowned singer to the old Holy Hall Academy and honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award. RahatFateh Ali Khan is the first Pakistani to receive the award making us all proud. He tweeted:

3. Khurram Jahangir Khan
Khurram Jahangir Khan is one of the talented Pakistanis, who impressed the Victoria State of Australia with his volunteer work. He has won the “2016 Young Victorian of the Year” award. The Victorian award is given to the most exceptional Victorian every year. Khurram is currently a Biomedical student at the University of Melbourne. In the past, he has also won the “Victoria Premier’s Volunteer Award 2014” for his contribution in the betterment of Australian community. Moreover, he has also won “Student of the Year” award at The City School, Melbourne in 2013. He is indeed a source of inspiration for the youth of Pakistan.
4-5. Uloomi Karim and Ahmed Mujtaba
Pakistan’s mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Uloomi Karim defeated Indian wrestler Yadwinder Singh at World Series of Fighting Global Championship (WSOF-GC) in Manila, Philippines. He is not the only Pakistani wrestler who made us proud. Another Pakistani Ahmed ‘Wolverine’ Mujtaba was also titled the Featherweight Championship in WSOF-GC.
6. Jawad Khan
The “La Trobe Bendigo” award night recognized a Pakistani-born Australian student’s achievement. Jawad Khan was given the award for his contribution to social justice in the Bendigo community. He is studying dentistry in Australia and is part of the efforts being taken to educate the community about social diversity and inclusion.
7. Hissam Ali Hyder
For the first time in history, an Asian player Hissam Ali Hyder represented Pakistan in the Commonwealth team and won “Royal Salute Coronation Cup”. His team won the cup after defeating England by 12-11 in an exciting game at Guards Polo Club. A large number of Pakistanis were present to support Hissam while waving Pakistani flags.
8. Mahira Khan
The Pakistani beauty, our very own Khirad of Humsafar won the “Face To Watch Out For” award at Vogue Beauty Awards held in India. Mahira Khan is in India these days gearing up for her Bollywood debut movie “Raees” with Shahrukh Khan. Indeed, Mahira Khan truly deserved the beauty Award. 9. Muhammad Saeed Sheikh
A Pakistani humanitarian, Muhammad Saeed Sheikh was honored with an international humanitarian award in Washington. He is the president of Houston-Karachi Sister Association (HKSCA). He is the first member from any Sister Cities of Houston to get this award. The Sister Cities International Circle of Distinguished Volunteers was created to honor people who are continuing the legacy of peace of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
10. DrAnjum Iqbal
Dr. Anjum Iqbal has won the “Plaque of Appreciation” award in Saudi Arabia. The award was given by “Sadara”, the largest chemical industry in the world. The award ceremony was held in Jubail, Saudia Arabia. Around 75 instructors were selected for training of Arabian youth, out of which 6 instructors including DrAnjum were awarded the “Plaque of Appreciation”.
Indeed, these remarkably amazing Pakistanis have made us proud. Wake up as a united nation and work hard for making a good name for Pakistan.

340 players representing 26 mosques from all over Southern California gathered in MMTSC Irvine on August 6th to participate in the “Fifth Joint Masjid Basketball Tournament” organized by the Southern California Muslim Community Organization (SCMCO).
SCMCO Shura Member ArifHyder extended a warm welcome to the players and the audience. This is not only about basketball or entertainment, this is about coming together, he said. Rules and regulation lead, Azeem Syed, explained the rules and format of the tournament to the players.
His team was compromised of Aziz Molai, Abdul Jabbar, Abdul Aziz Hafeez, Usman Rana and Layla Issa.
It was a rare delight to see over 300 players and spectators performing salah together. Hafiz FaizDadabhoy from IOK led the prayers.
SCMCO Chairperson Dawar Naqvi thanked everyone for their contribution. He thanked ALLAH for making this program successful.
