Consul General Meets Mayor of Los Angeles
Mr Abdul Jabbar Memon, Consul General of Pakistan, held a meeting with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Michael Gracetti in his office on July 31.
Mr Memon thanked the Mayor for extending all possible facilitation to the diplomatic community for making their stay comfortable in Los Angeles.
The Consul General highlighted the dynamic role of the Pakistani-American Diaspora in promoting goodwill between Pakistan and the USA. He stated that the Pakistani community is playing its due role in all walks of life and is greatly contributing to the growth of the great city of Los Angeles.
Mr Memon also shared his views on meaningful engagement between the Los Angeles City Administration and mega cities of Pakistan such as Karachi and Lahore. He urged exchange of visits of representatives from Los Angeles and the mega cities of Pakistan.
Mr Gracetti responded in a very positive manner to the suggested initiatives and showed his willingness for taking the first step towards the realization of these goals. The Mayor also graciously suggested to initiate necessary work on declaring Los Angeles a sister city of Karachi or Lahore. He informed that Tehran and Bombay were already sister cities of Los Angeles and he would sincerely endorse any such understanding with a compatible city of Pakistan.
He also broke the news of agreeing to hold Olympic Summer Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
An exchange of souvenirs also took place on the occasion.
