Consul General Memon Meets with Congresswoman Judy Chu
Mr Abdul Jabbar Memon, Consul General of Pakistan, Los Angeles met with various US Congressmen and Senators, says a press release. It adds: The purpose of these meetings is to apprise them of the security situation in our region and to brief them about Pakistan’s viewpoint on issues which are causing friction between Pakistan and US relations. Last month, the Consul General met Congressman Brad Sherman.
On September 19, 2017, the Consul General met with Congresswoman Judy Chu. During the meeting he briefed the Congresswoman in detail about the various steps which the Government of Pakistan had taken to control the menace of terrorism. He also told her that Pakistan firmly believes in a negotiated and political settlement of the Afghan issue. Any further attempts to use force would bring further instability in Pakistan and it would also have a spillover effect in the neighboring countries. He also briefed her about the negative role that India is playing in the region by destabilizing Pakistan through its covert support of terrorist groups like TTP and Baloch Liberation Army.
Congresswoman Judy Chu is the first member of Congress of Chinese origin. She is a member of the House of Representatives since 2008 and belongs to the Democratic Party. The meeting helped in creating a better understanding of Pakistan’s position on various issues.
