Pakistani Students of Global Undergraduate Exchange Program Visit Pakistan Embassy DC
Washington DC: On January 3rd, Pakistan Embassy DC held a luncheon briefing for Pakistani students who arrived in the United States under the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD).
Over 100 students from different parts of Pakistan would be completing an academic semester in the United States at 95 different host institutions in forty states and the District of Columbia. The vast majority of these undergraduate students had not previously travelled outside Pakistan.
In her remarks, Ms Mary Kirk, Director of the Office of Academic Exchange Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the US Department of State, thanked the Embassy of Pakistan for hosting the welcome lunch and briefing for the participants of the Global UGRAD.
Charge d' Affairs (Cd'A) Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, while talking to the students, gave an overview of Pakistan-US relations, and stressed the importance of this relationship highlighting its diversity in fields including, education, culture, economic, defense and security.
Mr Sheikh advised the students to conduct themselves with pride and a sense of responsibility during their stay in the United States to correct perceptions about Pakistan. He said that the participants should realize that their visit formed a vital part of people-to-people contact between the two countries and the good impressions left by them would help augment mutual trust.
The students also had the opportunity to have an interactive session with the Charge d' Affaires, and enjoyed their trip to the Embassy.
