Shura and ICNA Team up to Launch Billboard Campaign in California

As part of its community outreach efforts in Greater Los Angeles, the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California has partnered with the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) to launch the largest outdoor educational campaign in the state.
The campaign is in response to the increase in hate, intolerance, and racism in the country in the past couple of years and seeks to disseminate accurate information on Islam and Muslims via a dedicated hotline and online campaign. It includes 30 billboards throughout the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. These billboards are expected to be viewed by millions. Additionally, two more messages in Spanish are "Ayuda a lospobres y alimenta a loshambrientos" and "La FamiliaUnida. Amor y Respeto. Islam: DescubreNuestrosValores".
Beliefs and values of family, charity, compassion, and humanity are not only an integral part of an American Muslim's daily life but they also make American Muslims commit to the betterment of the society and the country that they call home. The messages inspired by the Qur’an include "Saving one life is like saving entire humanity" and "Eat and drink but don't be wasteful". Another inspired by the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) says, "Aid the poor and feed the hungry" in English and Spanish.
The ads also encourage the viewers to get a free copy of the Qur'an and get more info about Islam by calling the hotline 1-877-WhyIslam or visiting the website WhyIslam.org. A team of over a dozen trained volunteers are on standby 24/7 to answer any queries. Also, any requests for mosque visits will be routed to the local Mosques.
“This timely campaign is a costly, although needed, endeavor. We ask you to help us raise $50,000 to continue this effort,” says a Shura message.
