Council of Pakistan Serves Thanksgiving Meals to the Homeless
Los Angeles, CA: Thousands of homeless, needy people and families were treated to free Thanksgiving meals during the annual holiday feast at the Los Angeles Mission along skid row. Volunteers from Council of Pakistan prepared and served 3,000 pounds of turkey, 700 pounds of mashed potatoes, 800 pounds of green beans and 600 pies to our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Council of Pakistan members also gave out towels, blankets and tarps in preparation for the colder winter months to the homeless.
President Council of Pakistan Jamal Khawaja stated: "There are more people becoming homeless for the first time now than at any time in Los Angeles’ history". Los Angeles Mission is on the front lines of providing meals, hot showers, safe shelter and other life-giving support to people in need. Council of Pakistan and Los Angeles Sheriff Alex Villanueva are committed to working together to find solutions to help the homeless population of LA County.
Council of Pakistan is always looking for community members who would like to help build our communities stronger. Join Council of Pakistan.
