Shura Council’s ‘Muslim of the Week’
The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California has named Dr Sherman Jackson as this week’s ‘Muslim of the Week.’
Dr Jackson is currently the King Faisal Chair of Islamic Thought and Culture, and Professor of Religion and American Studies and Ethnicity at USC. He has authored numerous works on Islam and its followers.
Not satisfied with all of the amazing work that he has done so far, Dr Jackson is also a co-founder and board member of the American Learning Institute for Muslims. According to the ALIM website, it is an “academic institution where scholars, professionals, activists, artists, writers, and community leaders come together to develop strategies for the future of Islam in the modern world.”
His accomplishments and service toward the Islamic faith have certainly not gone unnoticed. Dr Jackson is one of the “top ten experts on Islam in America and was named among the 500 most influential Muslims in the world by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center in Amman, Jordan and the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding,” from the ALIM website.
“For his important work in the Muslim community, Dr Sherman Jackson is our newest Muslim of the Week,” the Shura Council announcement concludes.
