Mohammad H. Mahmood Passes away
The Muslim community of Southern California is mourning the loss of a senior and respected member of the community, Br. Mohammad Hameeduddin Mahmood, who passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at his home in Chino Hills, California.
Inna lillahiwainnailayhiraji'oon
May Allah rest his soul in eternal peace in JannatulFirdaus and give his family the fortitude and courage to bear the monumental loss. My heartfelt condolences and sincere prayers are with the entire family during this most difficult time in their life.
Br. Mahmood is survived by his wife, Sister Anwar Mahmood, son Kamran Mahmood, daughter-in-law Sara, and grandchildren Alisa and Mikail.
Br. Mohammad H. Mahmood served as the President of the Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley, the third largest Islamic Center in Southern California, and always emphasized the unity and well-being of the Muslim community of San Gabriel Valley. After the genocide and mass massacre of Muslims in Bosnia and Kosovo, the Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley under his leadership assumed the responsibility to take care of 25 Muslim refugees from Kosovo. Br. Mahmood assumed the responsibility himself, did a wonderful job and got each and every one of the 25 Kosovo Muslim refugees settled in the neighboring areas of the Islamic Center. It was not only a great gesture on the part of the Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley to reach out and help the displaced and needy people in the Muslim community, but was also a superb reflection of the Muslim community of San Gabriel Valley's generosity and readiness to help the needy at any time. May Allah be pleased with the good deeds of Br. Mahmood, forgive all his shortcomings, and bless him with JannatulFirdaus. Ameen.
Funeral prayers for Br. Mohamad H. Mahmmod were held at the Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley in Rowland Heights and he was laid to rest in the Melrose Abbey Cemetery, Anaheim.
Azza/Qur'an Khawni/Iftar/Dinner followed at the Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley on Thursday, May 30, 2019.
May his soul rest in peace. (Ameen)
