Ahmed Ali Akbar Bags Award at Washington DC South Asian Film Festival
Laal Kabootar made it to the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival and nabbed an award while it was there.
The film’s lead Ahmed Ali Akbar shared the happy news on Instagram that he bagged the award for Best Actor at the festival.
“Truly honoured to have won Best Actor at Washington DC South Asian Film Festival for Laal Kabootar,” writes Akbar.
The actor plays a cab driver in Karachi that wants to escape to Dubai; he brought grit and authenticity that is equal to what Karachi’s streets demand of men.
Recently, Laal Kabootar became Pakistan’s submission to the Oscars on which director Kamal Khan shared, “Humbled by the news!
This is an extremely proud moment for the entire team, we are all very excited. Want to thank the Pakistan selection committee and audiences for giving Laal Kabootar so much love.”
Laal Kabootar is a 2019 Pakistani action crime thriller film produced by Hania Cheema and Kamil Cheema.
It is written by Ali Abbas Naqvi. Taha Malik is the music director while Danial Hyatt, son of Rohail Hyatt, provides the background score.
The film features Ahmed Ali Akbar, Mansha Pasha, Rashid Farooqui, Raza Gillani, Syed Mohammad Ahmed, Ali Kazmi and many others.
It is directed by Kamal Khan. The film was released on 22 March 2019.
Laal Kabootar did the TV Premier on 31 August 2019 on Geo Entertainment.
It is Pakistan’s official entry for 92nd Academy Awards.
