Pakistani Doctor Volunteers to Treat Coronavirus Patients in Wuhan
A man’s resolve to fight odds is tested in the trying times only and there is no dearth of people around us who are willing to battle unfavorable conditions to make life easy for others.
With the rise in cases of coronavirus infection in China, people are resorting to all means available to get out of the country, but there is one braveheart who is not only willing to help infected people but he is willing to help them in the most dangerous zone ie Wuhan.
A Pakistani doctor is winning hearts on social media after volunteering to treat coronavirus patients in Wuhan.
Pakistani community members residing in China are all praise for Dr Usman, a Pakistani teacher at Changsha Medical College.
Usman is the first foreign doctor who stepped forward to treat infected people in Wuhan as a volunteer.
Netizens lavished praise for this brave doctor
“I salute you. Our friendship with China is not just rhetoric. It is a special relationship between the two countries,” Salman Ali, a Pakistani student posted these comments on social media apps.
Traders, businessmen for Pakistan have also applauded Dr Usman’s noble gesture.
Usman, 29, graduated from Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine with a bachelor’s degree in 2012 and returned to Pakistan to practice medicine for four years.
During the four years of stay in his hometown, he never forgot China and Changsha.
He said that China had provided him with good opportunities for education and employment and realized his dream.
In 2016, he returned to China and began studying for a master’s degree in medicine at Central South University in Changsha. After graduation, he became a foreign teacher at Changsha medical college.
Taking to Twitter, the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan stated: "We appreciate Dr Muhammad Usman Janjua, a foreign doctor to join the fight against coronavirus in China as a volunteer. He is a teacher from Changsha Medical University, China and hails from Deena, Jhelum, Pakistan."
"China provided me with good opportunities for education and employment. I am unable to forget China and Changsha," said Janjua.
On Jan 27, Janjua formally applied to the Foreign Experts Service Office at the Hunan Science and Technology Department, hoping to volunteer in Wuhan.
“The staff sent me the methods of epidemic prevention and virus isolation every day, asking me to protect myself, solving many difficulties for me.”
He maintained that when his family and friends in Pakistan called to ask him about the situation in China, he replied by saying: "I am fine. The Chinese government cares about us very much."
