MPAC’s Hollywood Bureau Honored
MPAC's Hollywood Bureau was recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences as an organization whose "impact on the world of film is truly immeasurable.” We are so honored by this affirmation of our work toward inclusion of Muslim voices and stories!
Many of us are watching more television and streaming content these days, or at least we will be after Ramadan. The ultimate goal of our Hollywood Bureau is for Muslim writers to tell their own stories, and our Screenwriting Labs provide huge momentum toward that goal.
For our TV Drama Lab, we partnered with Wise Entertainment, led by Katie and Mauricio Mota. Here is what Katie had to say after spending a day with these talented Muslim writers:
"We were so moved and learned so much from every single person in the room. What an incredible group of people and to be able to connect with them as they set out on their important journeys in the world. We are 1000% behind you and the work you are doing.
It is our duty and responsibility to right the wrongs that have been done to the Muslim community and help in any way we can to change the world for the future so every person can be seen, heard, and valued for the dynamic human beings that they are and how important our Muslim brothers and sisters are to our community, our country and our world. We want to do much more together and change the narrative about Muslim people in this country. Please always count on us."
