A Memorable Graduation Party in Cerritos
High school graduation parties are held every year with gaiety and the usual joyous, celebratory mood but it is rare that they are attended by high ranking officials and state dignitaries. An exception-to-the-general rule was the graduation party of Adeel Ahmed of Cerritos High School at the Skyline Room of the City of Cerritos on July 31, 2021. Adeel is the son of Razia and Sultan Ahmed, one of the first Muslim Commissioners of Pakistani origin who has been a community activist for years.
Prominent among the attendees were: Senator Josh Newman Office representative Nathan Bass, Mayor of Artesia Rene Trevino, Artesia City Council Ali Taj Sajjad, Mayor Pro Tem City of Cerritos Chuong Vo, City Council member of Norwalk Rick Ramrez and Gina Ramirez from the Board of Education, Cerritos College Board Vice President Dr Shin Liu, Mary Ann Tipton President Cerritos Democratic Club, HHHD and husband Retired Judge LeLand Tipton Bellflower Superior Court.
The family expressed special thanks to Sheriff Alex Villanueva, Office Commander John Burcher, Lieutenant Ben Sahile and Natalie Garcia, Bruce Barrow City Council of Cerritos and Arif Mansuri, owner of Pakistan Link, and Mohammed Ishaq. Adeel was officially recognized by the dignitaries who attended and gave him certificates. They included: Senator Josh Newman 29th Distric, Mayor of Artesia Rene Trevino, City Council Cerritos Bruce Barrows, City Council Norwalk Rick Rameriz and LA County Sheriff’s Alex Villanueva.
