IAMC Mourns the Loss of a Pioneer in Indian Muslim Advocacy
An IAMC announcement states: It is with great sadness that we inform you of the sudden demise of our dear brother Umar Malick. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajioon. To Allah we belong and to him is our return!
Br Umar Malick was one of the founding members of IAMC who had served on the board for several years and also as a president.
He made significant contributions not only to the cause of peace and justice in India but also took the lead on several initiatives in both US and India, including his local community in the San Francisco Bay Area.
His sincerity, dedication and passion made him a luminary who dedicated his life so others could have a better life. Just before his demise, he was working on a critical project for IAMC. His passing is a tremendous loss for Indian Muslim advocacy and for the Muslim Ummah.
The news of his death has shocked and grieved all of us at IAMC who knew him personally and professionally. May Allah (SWT) grant him Maghfirah and the highest abode in Jannah and may Allah (SWT) give Sabr to all his loved ones (Ameen).
Umar bhai was in the hospital to get a stent in his heart today, December 13, but shortly after the procedure, he said he couldn't breathe. Within an hour his condition deteriorated and his end came before the doctors could attend to him. - Syed Ali, President, IAMC
