AMMWEC Hosts National Interfaith Iftar
By Anila Ali
With the 2021 Ramadan season just behind us, I hope you had a blessed and joyous Eid. Ramadan was a month of reflection, generosity, and peace. In that spirit, we are proud to have hosted a National Interfaith Iftar, which was viewed by thousands of people across the globe.
It was so heartwarming to see leaders from so many different faiths and backgrounds come together to honor our holy month of Ramadan and to share their support for AMMWEC. As Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger stated, “I have been impressed by the work of AMMWEC to fight religiously motivated hate and bigotry through inclusivity and fostering shared experiences.” Other esteemed speakers included Congressmembers Katie Porter, Judy Chu, Jamie Raskin, Lee Zeldin, Brendan Boyle, Bonnie Watson Coleman, Charlie Crist and Ted Deutch, along with many other honorable public servants. Thank you all for watching and joining!
The Iftar was also a wonderful opportunity to connect with old partners and to build bridges with new ones. This past month, we also partnered and collaborated with other women's organizations such as NEBAF to empower women and build responsible leadership that reflects the best of America.
On behalf of our esteemed board, I would like to thank YOU, our dear community members and supporters, for your ongoing dedication and involvement. So many of you donated to our Ramadan Food Drive and gave us the opportunity to help individuals and families in need. Together, we have fed hundreds of families across America as they celebrated the holy month of Ramadan!
As always, thank you for your ongoing support. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to staying in touch!
(Anila Ali is President of AMMWEC)
