Help Slow the Spread!
Our country and community is still undergoing an onslaught of Covid cases. The surge in coronavirus cases has shut down California schools, firefighters, and health care workers but officials are hoping it will be short-lived. California's number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has soared five-fold in two weeks and hospitalizations have doubled.
The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California (Shura Council) urges the Muslim Community to continue precautions as advised by federal, state and local agencies in containing the COVID-19 crisis.
We urge communities to follow the following for all community activities moving forward:
1. Wear a mask while at masajid and events.
2. Take your temperature/self-screen before attending events, especially Jummah.
3. Stay at home if sick with any unusual complaints, elderly or immune compromised.
4. Preventive measures such as social distancing, no hugging, handshaking, hand hygiene, own prayer rugs, outside arrangements, frequent disinfection of high contact surfaces and bathrooms, etc. should be practiced as much as possible
The safety and protection of our community is a collective obligation, and we must each do our part.
May Allah aid us in equipping and enacting this responsibility, Ameen. - The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California
