Nihal Khan was a founding member of the AMU Alumni Association of Northern California and its first President and a prominent member of the Bay Area Muslim community.
He was also a founder and past-president of the Islamic Society of East Bay in Fremont, and a founder of the San Ramon Valley Islamic Center.
He was a community organizer, a loving person and a charming host. He had a great circle of friends and was well respected in the Indo-Pak community.
Those of us who had known him will remember a person of great energy, boundless enthusiasm and respect for his elders and love for those younger than him. He was a friend, a mentor, and big brother to many of us. A real Aligarian in every sense of the word. With his passing the AMU Alumni Association has lost a valuable link to its past, however, his memory will live on in our hearts and mind.
He leaves behind his wife, Shahla Khan, his sons, Kamran and Adnan, and daughter, Saman, and their families to mourn his loss. The wider Aligarh fraternity joins the family in the mourning and is deeply affected by this loss.
We ask Allah to grant him Maghfirah and a high status in Jannah and patience to all his loved ones. Ameen. - Shaheer Khan
