Say NO to Styrofoam
This past Saturday at Shura Council’s General Body meeting, students from the Art and Wilderness Institute presented their Green Masjid Initiative to masajid and organizational leaders.
The goal of this program is to reduce our carbon footprint as inheritors of the Earth. One of the main problems is Styrofoam as it never fully biodegrades. Not only is Styrofoam harmful to nature, but it is harmful to us. Chemicals from Styrofoam can go into our bodies and cause a variety of issues.
Shura Council will be working closely with these very passionate and impressive students to make our masajid more Green through initiatives that include:
- “Green” Khutbahs on being better stewards
- Community Education
- Providing sustainable alternatives to Styrofoam
