Dr Sofia Abdullah Passes away

 

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of Dr Sofia Abdullah, who passed away this morning, Monday, 15 th August 2023.  A resident of Potomac, Maryland, she was a well-known physician, who was actively involved in humanitarian activities for over five decades.  May Allah accept her good deeds, forgive her shortcomings and enter her in Jannat ul Firdaus, Aameen.

She was the wife of senior Alig Dr A. Abdullah, who established Aligarh Alumni Associations in North America and for over 46 years has been conducting International Mushaira in the USA and other countries. He is heartbroken by losing a life partner, who had been his strongest supporter for all his academic and literary activities. She was the mother of Amir Abdullah and Faisal Abdullah, mother-in-law of Farheen Abdullah, grandmother of Ali, Rafey, and Kabeer, sister of Javed and Shahid Malik, and sister of Firdos Ali. May Allah shower His Mercy on all of them and give them strength to bear the irreparable loss.

Salaat ul Janazah for the deceased was held at the Islamic Center of Maryland on Wednesday, August 16, and she was buried in the Al Firdaus Memorial Gardens.
