Niala Mohammad Joins MPAC Policy Bureau
By Salam Al-Marayati
President, MPAC
We are excited to announce that Niala Mohammad has joined the MPAC Policy Bureau as our new Director of Policy and Strategy alongside our Director of Government Relations, Mohammad Ali. She brings her expertise in journalism, policy analysis, and strategic communication to this position.
Niala previously served as the Senior Policy Analyst at the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), focusing on religious freedom conditions in South Asia. Before joining USCIRF, she worked as a multimedia journalist for 14 years with the Voice of America (VOA) covering South Asia, particularly the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region, India, human rights, terrorism, and extremism.
Niala also served as a Cultural Advisor to the Department of Defense (DoD), where she produced strategic studies on cultural, economic, and political factors affecting US counter-radicalization objectives, strategic messaging, and influence operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
As Director of Policy and Strategy at MPAC, Niala will expand the reach of our Policy Bureau by creating and executing new policy advocacy campaigns so that our lawmakers have a strong understanding of the issues facing American Muslims today, and what can be done to improve our communities.
We look forward to working with Niala as we continue to expand our efforts in advocating for human rights and religious freedoms for our Muslim communities both here in the US and across the globe.
