Washington:  Masood Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, has condemned the murder of Dr Talat Jahan Khan, who was stabbed to death in her apartment complex in Conroe, a small city north of Houston, Texas, on October 29, 2023.

Expressing his deepest condolences to her bereaved family, Ambassador Khan termed the incident “shocking” and a “senseless act of violence.”

“Dr Talat Jahan Khan was a dedicated healthcare professional and a beloved member of the Pakistani-American community,” he said. “We share the grief of the bereaved family and pray for eternal peace of the departed soul.”

Ambassador Khan also expressed comfort and compassion for the entire Pakistani-American community and spoke to Dr Arshad Rehan, President of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA), to convey a deep sense of loss and shock.

Originally from Karachi, Pakistan, Dr Talat Jahan Khan, age 52, came to the United States in the late1990s where she specialized in pediatric medicine for many years.

In his personal messages to her bereaved family, the ambassador assured all possible support from the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, DC, and Consulate in Houston in completing last rites of the deceased.

The Embassy of Pakistan in Washington DC and the Consulate General in Houston are ascertaining facts from the bereaved family and the relevant authorities.

The alleged perpetrator has reportedly been arrested by the police and he is under investigation.   “We hope a swift inquiry into this crime by law enforcement agencies to deliver justice, at the earliest,” the ambassador stated.

The Consul General of Pakistan in Houston will attend the funeral on October 31.
