Tribute to Allama Iqbal and Sadequain
The embassy of Pakistan in Washington DC. will hold a seminar and art exhibition to pay tribute to Allama Iqbal and Sadequain.
Allama Iqbal is one of the preeminent scholars of the Indo-Pakistan subcontinent. His poetry and philosophy are mutually inclusive; they do not exist in isolation from each other. His message took a three-pronged approach: His Urdu and Persian poetry is an exquisite collection of motivational lyrics exemplifying the richness of Islamic literature. His probing prose maintained a balance due to a paradigm shift in the religious approach to modernism. And as a political and social reformer, he rose to his civic responsibilities.
Sadequain is considered as the greatest artist Pakistan has produced. He was a polymath, a confluence of Picasso, Michelangelo, Omar Khayyam, and calligrapher Yakoot. Likes of him are not born for centuries.
The sumptuous collection of Sadequain’s artwork represents his perceptions, in which he draws inspiration from the ancient wisdom of Sufi traditions, which for centuries have represented some of mankind’s purest instincts. As archetypal expressions of mystic vision, his imagery transcends our latent susceptibilities. They hold a beacon to the path of enlightenment, guide through the gateway of spiritual freedom, and provide a conduit to transpersonal truth. |
