Pakistani Flag-Raising Ceremony at Santa Clara County HQ

Pakistan Independence Day was celebrated on August 14, 2024, at the Santa Clara County headquarters.
The program began with the raising of American and Pakistani flags.
Michelle Ahmed sang the Star Spangled Banner while the Pakistan national anthem was sung by all Pakistanis.
Zainab Ali was the emcee of the event.
On the occasion the Board of Supervisors of Santa County issued a proclamation which in part declared Pakistani Americans have contributed greatly to the rich cultural, social, and economic fabric of Silicon Valley. They represent a culturally rich heritage and vibrant community in Santa Clara
For over 150 years, Pakistani Americans have contributed to the American economy, particularly in the field of agriculture, mining, and logging industries. They comprise a broad spectrum of professionals in fields such as medicine, law, business, education, government, technology, social services, non-profits, and more.
The proclamation was handed over to Abdus Sattar Ghazali, senior advisor of the American Muslim Voice that had organized the event.
Omar Naeem Raza presented ‘A Pride and Joys of Pakistan.’
CA State Senator Dave Cortese had sent a certificate of recognition to the organizers on the occasion. The certificate felicitated the American Muslim Voice and sponsors for hosting the Pakistan Independence Day Celebration. “Your advocacy in our community has left a positive impact across Santa Clara County. Your work has been a true gift for which we are proudly grateful.”
The certificate of Senator Dave Cortese was received by Mr Saghir Ahmed.
Zara Mukhtar spoke about Abdul Sattar Edhi a great humanitarian and philanthropist from Pakistan.
Farha Andarabi spoke about Kashmir.
After the speeches, Pakistani national songs were spiritedly sung by Almas Shabvani, Shahida Malik, and Zeba Khan.
The Independence Day celebrations concluded with refreshments served by the American Muslim Voice and other sponsors.
