Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh Takes the Helm of Pakistan’s Embassy in the US

Washington: The Honorable Rizwan Saeed Sheikh assumed his responsibilities as Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States on August 21, 2024. On his first day at the elegant embassy in Washington, DC, the ambassador had a detailed briefing with officers and heads of departments. In a Zoom meeting, he also met with the Consuls General of the other six diplomatic missions of Pakistan in the United States.
Ambassador Sheikh’s foremost priority is to cement the longstanding multifaceted Pakistan-United States relationship, along with strengthening economic ties, enhancing people-to-people linkages and serving the vibrant Pakistani community in the United States. In addition, of great importance to Pakistan’s top envoy in the United States is engaging in result-oriented diplomacy.
At the time of his appointment, Sheikh was serving as Additional Foreign Secretary for Middle East Affairs and overseeing the Special Investment Facilitation Council at Pakistan’s Foreign Office. Previously, the ambassador worked with the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and served as the spokesperson for the OIC secretary-general.
