Why should I vote?
Local elections are particularly sensitive to voter turnout. Frequently, candidates win and ballot measures pass by a marginal difference. For many local positions, only the top two vote-getters in the primaries move on to the general election in November. There are an estimated over 1 million Muslims in California - enough to make a meaningful difference.
Every ballot that we cast, even empty ones, increases our presence on the voter roll. Politicians review voter rolls to understand demographics and determine policy.
How can I prepare?
Determine your household member voter eligibility. US citizens who reside in California, will be 18 or older on Election Day [March 5th for Primary; November 5th for General], who are not currently serving a state or federal prison term for a felony, and who have not been determined to be mentally incompetent to vote by a court, can vote.
