“We are pleased to announce the formation of a Pakistani American Political (AzPAK Pac) action committee based in Phoenix, Arizona,” says an e-mail message. It adds:
“The primary objective of this committee is to raise political awareness and increase engagement of our community in the political process at a grassroot level. Supporting candidates independent of their party affiliation who share the PAC's values and policies is one way to achieve this goal.
“AzPAK Pac will lobby legislators on behalf of its interests and influence public policy in support of its goals. It will drive voter registration in the community in an organized fashion while emphasizing the need to actively participate in local politics. Raising awareness of the AzPAK Pac mission and goals is also important. AzPAK Pac will use a variety of communication channels to reach their target audience, including social media, email, and events.
