Sadequain's Fakes Sold by London-based Auction House
Sadequain is the most talked-about and most written-about artist of Pakistan. He is also the most-imitated artist of Pakistan, according to a Sadequain Foundation message. It adds:
Some wise man said, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.” In Sadequain’s case, he has been a victim of forgers and his imitations complete with his signatures have flooded the art market ever since he died in 1987.
One of the largest traders of Sadequain’s fakes is London-based auction house BONHAMS (International Auction House).
Priya Singh at BONHAMS is the mastermind, and in collaboration with Pakistani Art Mafia, has facilitated SADEQUAIN Fake Factory, and to her credit, she has consummated sale of more than 30 fakes so far.
SADEQUAIN Foundation USA has served BONHAMS with a legal notice to cease and desist from the sale of Sadequain’s fakes.
SADEQUAIN Foundation USA’s 718-page book titled SADEQUAIN and Pakistani Art Mafia is a sordid tale of Sadequain’s fakes, the players, the institutions, and the victims. The book is available on Amazon.
SADEQUAIN Foundation USA is writing a book titled Encyclopedia of SADEQUAIN's Fakes which will expose the faces involved with SADEQUAIN Fake Bazaar.
