Community Celebrates15-Year Journey of ISF
By Somayeh Nikooei
Executive Director ISF
On Saturday, October 19, 2024, a remarkable gathering took place as hundreds of supporters, alum, staff, board members, and community leaders came together to celebrate the 15-year journey of ISF. This event was not just a reflection on our past successes, but also a moment to express our deep gratitude to everyone who has contributed to our mission.
Together, we raised more than $550,000, which will fuel our nationwide efforts to create opportunities for the next generation of leaders from our community. Abbas Alawieh, our guest speaker and co-founder of the Uncommitted Movement, stressed the importance of strategic initiatives such as ISF to uplift the next generation of leaders and shape the policies that impact our lives. The urgency of our work has never been clearer as we strive to build support systems that empower American Muslim voices. When united, we can enact meaningful change.
The evening was particularly inspiring as we honored ISF alums Mussab Ali, Erum Salam, Laila Ikram, and Zahraa Sahib. These individuals have made significant strides in their careers as mayoral candidate, reporter, judge, and legislative director. Their stories remind us that one person can indeed spark nationwide change.
As we reflect on our achievements, we are also reminded of the ongoing challenges we face. The need for ISF's work is more critical than ever as we strive to create pathways for those looking to lead and effect change through public interest law, policy, film, and media.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our incredible sponsors and all of you who continue supporting us on this journey.
