Inna lillahi Wa inna ilayhi rajioon (To Allah we belong and to him we return)
We are saddened to learn of the demise of prominent Kashmiri political and religious personality, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Ahmad Shah. He was 93 years old. His Salatul Janazah took place after Salatul Zhur at Jamia Masjid, Sector A, Bahria Enclave, Islamabad.
Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Ahmad Shah was elected member of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council or the Senate of Azad Kashmir. He was the son of a distinguished Kashmiri leader and Mufassir-e-Qur’an, Mirwaiz Muhammad Yusuf Shah, who migrated to Pakistan and later became the President of Azad Kashmir between 1952 to 1956.
I had the honor of meeting Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Ahmed Sahib in December 1994 in Haramain-e-Sharifain, while I was performing Umarah along with my family. He had also come to perform Umarah along with his family, including his daughter Talat and son Yahya. It was in Medina Munawarah that I also met Mirwaiz Noor-ud-Din Sahib who had also come along with Mirwaiz Muhammad Ahmad Shah. Mirwaiz Noor-ud-din has translated the Qur’an into the Kashmiri language, ‘Aechan Hund Ghash’ (Luminescence of Eyes). Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq, Chairman, APHC and Moulana Abbas Ansari were also there to perform Umarah. We all were together for more than three weeks, between Makkah Mukkarmah and Medina Munawarah.
It is worth mentioning that when Ambassador Yusuf Buch passed away in New York in May of 2019, he wanted to be laid to rest in the compound of the mausoleums of Mirwaiz Yusuf Shah in the Capitol City of Muzaffarabad. Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Ahmad Shah was kind enough to join us in Islamabad. He told me that both his father and Ambassador Muhammad Yusuf Buch resisted the Indian occupation of Kashmir till their last breath and never compromised. And I agreed with him completely.
Let us pray to Allah to place the soul of Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Ahmad Shah in Jannatul Firdous and give Sabr to his family! Ameen. - gnfai2003@yahoo.com
