At the Immigrant Day of Action (IDA) Conference in Sacramento, organized by the California Immigrant Policy Center (CIPC) over 1,500 activists gathered to discuss and advocate for Immigrants' rights.
The first day of IDA on Tuesday, April 14, included the CIPC annual IDA Conference, where more than 900 advocates, activists, and community members got together to share knowledge, connect, and plan collective action to support immigrant communities. One special session was designated for the Gubernatorial Forum, co-hosted by CAIR-Action, the California Latino Legislative Caucus Foundation, and ACLU CA Action, featuring 6 candidates (Xavier Becerra, Katie Porter, Tom Steyer, Tony Thurmond, Antonio Villaraigosa, and Betty Yee). They discussed tax cuts and economic reforms for small businesses. They also highlighted their visions for economic growth, with several top contenders addressing key issues.
On the second day, Wednesday, April 15th, community members, advocates, and partners from across California came together at the State Capitol in Sacramento to uplift shared policy priorities, meet with legislators, and demonstrate collective power.
Masoud Nassimi, Shura Council Executive Director, attended both days on behalf of the Muslim community. He shares the following remarks: “We are proud of the leadership of Mr Masih Fouladi from Southern California, who is the Executive Director of CIPC. It was the largest annual immigrant rights mobilization.”
