Pakistan’s Sajid Ali Sadpara Scales World’s 5th Highest Makalu Peak

Islamabad: Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara has scaled the world’s fifth-highest peak, 8,485-meter Mount Makalu in Nepal, according to the expedition organizers.

A team of three climbers, including Sadpara, and seven sherpas reached the summit of technically demanding peak early Saturday, the Seven Summit Treks expedition organizer said, wishing the team a safe and smooth descent back to base camp.

Sadpara is the son of legendary Pakistani climber, Muhammad Ali Sadpara, who died in his quest to summit K2 in Feb 2021. Saturday’s ascent marked the 10th summit of Sadpara’s mission to scale all of the world’s 14 peaks above 8,000 meters.

“Alhamdulillah, I’ve summited Makalu the 5th highest mountain in the world,” Sadpara said in a Facebook post on Sunday. “My 10th 8000ers.”

The Alpine Club of Pakistan, which organizes major expeditions in the country, extended heartfelt felicitations to Sadpara on the successful mission.

“This outstanding accomplishment reflects his courage, determination, and exceptional mountaineering skill,” it said in a statement.

“Summiting one of the world’s most technically demanding peaks is a proud moment not only for him but for the entire Pakistani mountaineering community.”

Sadpara has previously scaled Everest, K2, Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum-I, Gasherbrum-II and Dhaulagiri peaks. - Arab News
