Saaf Paani: Providing Clean Water to Families in Need across Pakistan
By Dr A. Khan
Chicago, IL

Saaf Paani, a Houston-based non-profit organization, is dedicated to creating a world where everyone has access to clean drinking water and proper sanitation. Its mission is to deliver sustainable, high-quality water solutions to underserved communities in developing countries — addressing a fundamental human need that many take for granted. Saaf Paani is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (Tax ID: 30-1200654), and all donations are Zakat-eligible.
Founded by Abdul Majid Adam, a 1969 graduate of NED University, Karachi, Saaf Paani designs and engineers safe water systems for water-stressed regions across Pakistan. The organization is currently focused on rural Sindh and parts of Karachi, where water salinity levels far exceed safe limits (TDS > 1,000). To combat this, Saaf Paani installs Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants that reduce TDS to optimal drinking levels (around 250), ensuring safe and healthy water for local residents.
Since its inception in 2019, Saaf Paani has completed over 2,300 projects, serving 140,000+ families by providing 2.4 million gallons of clean water daily. Building on this momentum, the organization plans to execute 1,000 additional projects this year. To ensure long-term success, the engineering team conducts thorough water testing via bore wells and implements tailored, high-tech solutions—including Reverse Osmosis plants, ultra-filtration systems, solar-powered pumps, and manual hand pumps.
