MQM backs traders strike call against extortion
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced its support for the strike call given by the business community for April 5 against the extortion mafia in the metropolitan city of Karachi, Geo News reported Saturday.
This was stated by MQM Deputy Convener Dr. Farooq Sattar in a media talk in Ranchor Lane area after taking a tour of different markets and trade centres of the city.
He said he the MQM had made it clear to the government that time has come to make a choice: either keep MQM in the folds of the ruling coalition or those patronizing the extortion mafia.
Sindh Minister Raza Haroon also accompanied Dr. Sattar.
The MQM Deputy Convener said the purpose of his visit to different trade centres was to express solidarity with the business community. “The traders had apprised us about their difficulties yesterday,” he added.
He said the extortion mafia had ruined the peace of Karachi, the economic hub of the country.
