ANP demands census under army
KARACHI: Army should supervise the census in Karachi because of the tense situation here, said Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh president Shahi Syed here on Saturday. In a press release issued from the Mardan House, he said that entrusting town administrations, health officials and social welfare departments would lead to a bogus voters’ list-like situation.
ANP leader urged the Sindh government to enroll all legal expatriate Bengalis, Burmese, Iranians, Afghanis and people hailing from the Middle East.
He recalled that in the past, partial officials manipulated enrollment forms of census, which proved detrimental to the interests of many communities inhabiting in Karachi. He reiterated that corrupt officials led to such a scenario that a specific community’s majority area was shown as minority on the paper. ppi
CID apprehends alleged target killer
KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Unit of Crime Investigation Department (CID) claimed to have arrested a target killer who was allegedly involved in the murder of former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) UC Nazim and recovered a weapon from his possession here on Saturday. SSP Aslam Khan said that a police party conducted a raid in Risala area and arrested Shahbaz after an encounter and recovered a TT pistol from his possession. Aslam said that the accused revealed during interrogation that he had killed former UC-5 Nanak Wara Nazim Hanif Memon on 25th March while he was sitting with his friend at Pan Mandi in Risala area. He further informed that the accused was affiliated with a religious political party and further investigation into the case was underway. staff report
