Pakistan has not requested for Musharraf’s handover: UK
ISLAMABAD: British Prime Minister David Cameron disclosed on Tuesday that his government has not yet received any formal request from Pakistan for handing over Pervez Musharraf. “A proper application was needed to be made to proceed in this regard,” the British premier said in reply to a media query about the handing over of the former Pakistan president, whose non-bailable arrest warrants had been issued thrice by an anti-terrorism court in the Benazir Bhutto assassination case. Cameron, while addressing a news conference along with his Pakistani counterpart Yousaf Raza Gilani, also said that there existed no extradition treaty between the United Kingdom and Pakistan. The British prime minister, however, avoided commenting on a question posed about his statement made during his visit to India last year when he accused Pakistan of “exporting terrorism”. staff report
