MQM created target killings, extortion drama to remove me from Home Ministry
KARACHI: Former Sindh home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza said that the coalition partners of PPP
were behind relieving
him from the office of home minister.
Talking to media at the Sindh Chief Minister’s House on Friday on the occasion of a reception hosted for Pakistan cricket team, Mirza said: “Target killings and extortion drama in Karachi were aimed at creating ground for my removal.” “The MQM wanted me
to be removed,” he said and added:
“Two months back they had demanded this and earlier Altaf Hussain had made the same demand to the President of Pakistan not once or twice but six times. “Chief minister and I had held meeting with the traders a few days back and I had informed them that they would be given good news after April 5. I had decided to leave the home minister’s portfolio in view of the demand by coalition partners and I did it,” he explained. “Now the extortion will continue but there will be no such drama,” he said. When asked about reports of him not feeling well and going abroad, Mirza said smilingly that he was infected by ‘Bhatta-hitis’.
He said 26 of the arrested target killers belonged to coalition parties and added that target killer Ajmal Pahari belongs to MQM. ppi
