Asfandyar says Saraiki-majority region is a province


ISLAMABAD: Chief Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali Khan Sunday described removal of Zulfiqar Mirza from Sindh home ministry as a PPP’s personal decision, adding that ANP considers Saraiki majority region ‘a province’, Geo News reported.

Addressing a press conference here, ANP chief denied impression of other parties’ involvement in Mirza’s ouster.

“ANP will punish its activists if found involved in criminal activities in Karachi,” he claimed.

He said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s Afghanistan visit would bear good fruits and termed PM’s visit ‘an onset’ of resolution to Pak-Afghan conflicts.

To a question, he said only FATA is a terrorism-torn region. He lauded the government’s resolve to take all coalition partners on board before budget for the next fiscal year.

“ANP has constituted a party to seek budget advices,” he added, urging that the government must implement on 18th amendment.

ANP has kicked off registration of new members to reorganize party, he announced. “Inter-party elections will be held on October 15, ” he informed.
