Hearing of Mumbai attacks case adjourned

RAWALINDI: The Rawalpindi Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) number 3 on Saturday adjourned the hearing of the Mumbai attacks case until April 23, as the prosecution lawyer did not appear before the court. However, the other prosecution lawyer of the FIA, Chaudhry Zulfiqar, tendered an application in the court mentioning that Khawaja Sultan was not the counsel for Ajmal Kasab, the sole survivor of the Mumbai attacks, so he could not contest his case. During the proceedings, which were held at Adiala Jail, the ATC-3 Judge, Rana Nisar Ahmed Khan, postponed the hearing until April 23. Defence lawyer, Shahbaz Ahmed Rajput, while talking to Daily Times, said that the prosecution was wasting time by tendering a new application on every date of hearing. He said that it seemed that the prosecution had no solid evidence, which it could present, before the court. He said the trial had been going on for the last two years, but charges could not be framed so far. khalid bin majeed
