KP Assembly adopts resolution against drones
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution against US drone attacks on Pakistan land, Geo News reported.
A senior provincial minister, Bashir Ahmed Bilour, tabled a resolution in KP assembly, condemning US drone strikes on Pakistani tribal region.
The resolution described US drone attacks being counterproductive that are killing innocent citizens of Pakistan.
Provincial government will not accept dictation from any power in connection with predators’ attacks, the resolution said.
The assembly asked the federal government on Monday to summon the US envoy to Pakistan to demand an end to drone strikes.
The resolution also demanded that the US hand over drone technology to Pakistan so that civilian casualties could be reduced.
It asserted that drone attacks are against the sovereignty of Pakistan and, therefore, could not be tolerated.
On the occasion, PPP’s leaders Abdul Akbar Khan, PML-Q’s Nighat and other members’ assembly debated on the resolution.
Also, opposition members protested against the resolution, saying they were not taken into confidence over it.
Subsequently, members KP assembly unanimously passed the resolution during the session.
