ZAB reference: cabinet approves questions of law
ISLAMABAD: The special cabinet meeting which held Wednesday with the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in the chair has approved five Questions of Laws to be presented before the Supreme Court tomorrow in the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto reference.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan briefing media after special meeting of the cabinet said that the counsel of the federation Dr Babar Awan and members of his legal team briefed the cabinet regarding these legal points.
She said that the questions of laws have been formulated in the light of discussions held before the bench of the Supreme Court.
These questions will be made public after submitting them in the apex court.
The Cabinet endorsed these points of law today after detailed discussion and the it unanimously approved questions of law to be presented before the Supreme court.
Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the case of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto is a dark chapter in the history of Pakistan and the government intends to remove this stain from the face of the country and the nation.
The objective of the reference Babar Awan told that the error of judgment be corrected for statues and legal history because it is a judicial murder of the Chairman of the premier political party and founder of the Constitution of Pakistan.
Babar Awan also highlighted the international significance and history of such high profile cases before the cabinet.
The federal minister said that the Prime Minister took in to confidence the cabinet regarding the reference as it is foremost priority of the government to undo the judicial excess against the former prime minister.
She hoped that the judiciary will deliver a judicious judgment to rectify the mistake made the judiciary itself in the case earlier.
Responding to question, she said the government is committed to overcome challenges being faced by the nation by promoting national reconciliation.
She said the government is following the vision of its Shaheed leader Benazir Bhutto who was fully focused on resolving the problems of common man and threats to the country through reconciliation.
Answering another question, she said negotiations are underway with all political forces to include them in the government in the larger national interest and work collectively for resolving the challenges.
She said that the present government is determined to take along all political forces to make joint strategy and efforts to overcome national challenges.
The Minister said that President Asif Ali Zardari took the party leadership in to confidence regarding his initiative to take on board other politcal parties to cope with the challenges.
She said that the party reposed complete confidence in the leadership of the President.
