71 Pakistanis still in Indian jails after serving time
ISLAMABAD: Seventy-one Pakistanis have been languishing in India’s Amritsar jail even after completion of their sentence, the National Assembly was told Thursday.
During the question hour, the lower house was informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that 5 Pakistani students were serving time in different cases in the US, Canada an Europe.
One of the detainees is Abid Naseer is accused of having links with al-Qaeda.
The National Assembly was told that 57,718 visas were issued during 2008 and 2010 by Pakistani Missions in 52 countries. Of these, 14842 visas were issued in UK while 3045 in the US.
