Pakistan to take up kidnapping of citizens by Somali pirates

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will take up the kidnapping of Pakistanis by Somali pirates with the Interpol and other international forums, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Thursday.
Responding to a query in the National Assembly, he said the government would also engage the diplomatic community to find out a permanent solution to the issue. About the payment of ransom to secure the release of the kidnapped Pakistanis, Malik held that it was not the solution because no one could guarantee that the hostages would be set free if the ransom was paid.
Malik said that people of various nationalities were being held by the pirates, and collective efforts were needed globally to combat them.
