Police nab accused of Rami Club blast
KARACHI: At least six target killers and an accused of Rami Club blast, occurred in Ghas Mandi area killing 18 people and injuring 41 others, have been taken under arrest, claimed Inspector General (IGP) Sindh Police Fayyaz Leghari, Geo News reported Monday.
To a press conference, IG Sindh Fayyaz Leghari told media men that the accused of Ghas Mandi explosion was arrested after a brief but successful police encounter at Superhighway.
“The mastermind accused of blast, identified as Mustafa Rehman, was hailing from a terrorist outfit called Al-Mukhtar Group,” the IG revealed, adding that the same terror outfit has deep links with terrorists in Wana and Waziristan districts.
Also, police have seized heavy cache of arms and explosives weighting 20 kilogram amid encounter, he informed media.
According to preliminary investigation, the reason of blast, which he described to newsmen, was the non-payment of Rs.20 lack extortion money, which the accused had demanded, and upon failing to receive, the suspect carried out a planted bomb blast inside Rami Club.
Meanwhile, CID police have arrested as many as five target killers in an action in Gulistan-e-Johar area late Monday evening, IG Sindh said.
Leghari said that the key militant accused of target killing, land grabbing has also been apprehended who was identified as Liaquat Bangash alias tension.
Police refused to link arrested target killing suspects to any political party.
