Saad says ‘Benzir is shaheed not Zulfiqar Bhutto’
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N MNA Khwaja Saad Rafiq Thursday said he considered Benazir Bhutto a shaheed but not Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto while he also admitted that his party did not play a tough opposition, Geo News reported.
In his speech in the National Assembly during the debate on presidential address, Saad Rafiq said PML-N did not play a tough opposition as it kept on fearing the intervention of boots but from now onwards it will gear into a fully charged opposition mode.
He alleged that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had colluded with Yahya Khan and played a role toward disintegration of Pakistan. “But, later on, Bhutto redeemed himself by standing strong in facing the tyranny of a dictator,” he added.
Rafiq said Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was no longer the one who had served time in a jail and that he (Rafiq) had been highly disappointed by him.
He said new provinces may be carved out but it should be done on the basis of the proportion of area/population. We will oppose news provinces on the basis of ethnicity, he added.
