Power shortage persists, up to 14 hr outages in cities

LAHORE: Power crisis has once again gripped the entire country with unannounced loadshedding being undertaken in both urban and rural areas, Geo News reported Saturday.

Major cities and rural areas have been facing outages of up to 14 and 20 hours respectively.

According to Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO), the total electricity generation stands at 12,259 MW against the demand of 16,140 MW, thus, the shortfall of 3,881 MW.

PEPCO spokesman said Karachi is being supplied 710 MW electricity on daily basis.

The unannounced power loadshedding has disturbed every day activities of the people while students taking examinations these days are suffering the most.
