PM Gilani welcomes China’s support in Pak-Iran gas pipeline project

BOAO, CHINA: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani met the Chinese Executive Vice Prime Minister and the Iranian Vice President on Sunday.

Prime Minister Gilani is attending the Boao Forum in China where he has held meetings with representatives of different countries.

During his meeting with the Chinese Executive Vice Prime Minister, Gilani welcomed the support of China in the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project.

Prime Minister Gilani also spoke of Pak-US ties, saying that the course of future relations would be decided by Parliament and would be based on mutual interest. There will be no compromise on the sovereignty of Pakistan, Gilani added.

Gilani said a friend of China was a friend of Pakistan and the security of the two countries was linked together.

During his meeting with the Iranian Vice President, developments regarding the gas pipeline and import of electricity projects were discussed.

The prime minister said Pakistan considered Jundullah a terrorist group and also declared his support for Iran’s pursuit of Nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

Gliani also expressed Pakistan’s interest in purchasing crude oil and 1,100 MW of electricity from Iran.
