Four slain PPP workers laid to rest

KARACHI: Four workers of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), including an activist of PSF, were laid to rest at their respective areas here on Saturday. According to police, the funeral prayers of three PPP activists, Farhan alias Gudo, Anees Siddiqui alias Munna Behari and Umer Hayat, who were targeted in the limits of Mominabad police station on Friday, were offered in different parts of Orangi Town, including Urdu Chowk area, sector 10 and 11. The funeral prayers were attended by the leaders of PPP, including MNA Abdul Qadir Patel and others. The deceased were buried at local graveyards. DSP Tariq Malik said the case in this regard was not registered yet as the committee of PPP was presently discussing the issue and later they would register the case. It may be noted that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah had given assurance to the protesters, who tried to approach the Chief Minister House with corpses of the victims but faced strong resistance from law enforcers in expressing resentment against the killings. The protesters took the bodies near Fountain roundabout where the chief minister assured the protesters of taking stern action against the nominated persons. Meanwhile, a PSF activist, Syed Hussain, who was killed at Scout Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, was laid to rest at the Super Highway graveyard. His funeral prayers were offered at Ali Town, Sohrab Goth where PSF leaders Zulfiqar Kaimkhani, Faisal Fateh, Bashir Khan and others were present. The victim Syed was the student of Sociology Department of Karachi University and was active worker of PSF. staff report
