PCNS finalises preliminary recommendations on US ties

ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) on Tuesday finalised its preliminary recommendations about new terms of engagement with the US and it would finalise report on Thursday. Talking to reporters, PCNS Chairman Senator Raza Rabbani said that the body had proposed some new recommendations and also amended some of the points to remove concern of some political parties. He said the committee’s members would seek feedback from their respective political leadership on the recommendations. Rabbani said the recommendations would be finalised in its next meeting. He, however, refused to give a date for finalisation of its recommendations and said that no specific timeframe could be given as it could be tabled in the ongoing session of a joint parliamentary sitting. He said Fazlur Rehman, chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, had not attended the session. Rabbani said the committee would meet on Thursday. app
