No Saudi pressure on Iran gas pipeline: FO

ISLAMABAD: Briefing media representatives on Thursday, Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said there was no pressure from Saudi Arabia on Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline. The spokesman said Pakistan had very good relations with Saudi Arabia and Iran and there were no difficulties regarding ties with the two countries. He further said that Siachen and Sir Creek issues were part of dialogue process going on between India and Pakistan. He hoped the dialogue process would move forward. Responding to a question about the need to resolve the Siachen issue, following the Gayari incident, the spokesmand said Pakistan always maintained that all issues between the two countries, including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir, should be resolved through dialogue. During the briefing, Abdul Basit discussed various foreign policy issues concerning India, Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, the United States and Indonesia. Basit admitted there were problems in Pakistan-US relations, adding that both sides were working to overcome the difficulties in bilateral ties. staff report
