Karachi receiving contaminated water: MD KW&SB
KARACHI: The Managing Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (MD KW&SB), Misbahuddin Farid said that water of Keenjhar Lake is contaminated by the industries, Geo News reported.The MD said Karachi receives 70 percent of its drinking water from the lake that is now polluted by the industrial waste dumped by the factories in Kotri and Jamshoro districts.
He said the citizens have been informed in February about the polluted water being supplied to the metropolis and Thatta District.
The MD KW&SB pointed out that Secretary Irrigation has been intimated about the issue many times but to no avail.
'The water from the lake is filtered at Gharo and Pipri stations and chlorine is added,' he told.
