Crash victims buried amid tears, criesISLAMABAD: A day after a Bhoja Air plane crashed with 127 people on board, sobbing relatives of those who died collected and buried the remains of their loved ones on Saturday.
Thirteen victims of the ill-fated airliner were buried in H-11 graveyard of Islamabad. Those who were buried included Adeel Chughtai, a resident of Karachi, his wife, and their three daughters and a son. Talat Mehmood, Baqir Mehndi and Sarwat Mumtaz along with her daughter and son was among those buried.
Six crash victims were buried in different graveyards of Rawalpindi. They included Asif Aftab, Asif Zubair, Fehmida Zubair, and Haris Hassan, Usman Rashid and Usman Rahim.
In Karachi, at least 36 bodies were received at Jinnah International Airport.
They included Imran Waheed, Rao Muhammad Irfan, Tasneem Begum, Raza Ali Khan, Abbas Ali Somroo and Chand Babu, Javed Iqbal, Sajjad and Samiya Rizvi (newly wed couple), Syed Umar Ali, Qari Abdur Rehman, Musarat Shaheen, Irfan Ali, Rehan Ali, Mustafa Sayal, Altamash, Ghazala Malik, Rafique Bhatti, Amir Akram, Zubaida Fareed, Shaheen Bano, Nizamuddin, Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Sohail, Farooq Ahmad, Sanam (airhostess), Muhammad Adil Khan, Azizur Rehman, Nihal Alvi, Farah Sajid, Rasheed, Habibur Rehman, Tanveer, Sadaf and Nasreen.
Kalu Abbasi, his wife Zuhra Bibi and Sardar Saud were laid to rest in Abbattabad.
Captain Noorullah Afridi, pilot of the aircraft, was buried near Kohat.
Brig Javed Akhtar, Hyderabad station commander, and his wife also died in the crash.
Climate Change Minister Rana Farooq Saeed said 116 bodies had been handed over to their relatives.
Addressing a press conference, he said 119 bodies had already been identified.
“The rescue and relief operation was over five hours within the tragedy. However, search for evidence, collection of belongings, clearance of debris and wreckage is still underway,” he said.
Over 445 personnel, 78 ambulances and 16 fire tenders were used in the operation, the minister said.
Officials from the Pakistan Army, air force, navy, Rescue 1122, fire brigade, the Pakistan
Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Edhi Emergency Services and Al-Khidmat Foundation participated in the rescue operation. Meanwhile, sources in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said a team of the agency raided the Bhoja Air office on Shahra-e-Faisal and took all the record into their custody. staff report/agencies
